MCA October Member’s Reception: La Vie Bohème

Join us on the first Friday in October (10.06) from 5-6 p.m. at The Brick (23 SW Broadway St.) Enjoy yummy bites, libations, unique photo ops, and mingle with our participating artists. NOTE: This reception is for Artists & MCA members only! The gallery will open to the general public from 6-8 pm during October’s First Friday Art Walk.
About the exhibit: each year, MCA invites emerging and seasoned artists to participate in our annual fine art exhibit and competition featuring the ‘Best of the Best’. This year’s prompt was “LA VIE BOHEME”, celebrating our 16th annual Applaud the Arts; Soirée de Lumière on 10.14 at the Appleton Museum of Art. This is MCA’s yearly celebration of local arts organizations and community art leaders with MCA cultural grants and arts awards. Tickets are on sale now at mcaocala.org!
About our 2023 official judge: Victoria Billig is Assistant Director of Museum Operations at the Appleton Museum of Art. She earned an MS in Interdisciplinary Arts from Nova Southeastern University, a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies, and BA in Art History from the University of South Florida. Prior to joining the Appleton Museum of Art, she held positions at the Pelham Art Center in Pelham, NY, the NSU Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, and the USF Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa. She sits on the board of the Magnolia Art Xchange, an incubator for emerging artists, and is a member of Marion County’s Tourist Development Council. Victoria has juried art festivals and exhibitions, and served on grant panels, for organizations across the United States.
The exhibit will be on display October 6 – 28, 2023. They feature artworks in various mediums by MCA artist members of all ages. All exhibited pieces are for sale, with a percentage of sales supporting MCA and its mission. Free admission and donations are appreciated. The Brick Gallery hours are Tues. – Fri., 10 am to 5 pm, Sat., 11 am to 4 pm. The gallery is closed on Sundays & Mondays. Questions? Contact MCA at 352-369-1500.
